Scorched

for piano trio

Program:
Scorched is inspired by the large burnt areas of forest left after a fire or brush clearing. Witnessing the lush forest greenery abruptly transition into a black, barren scar in these areas was very evocative for me. The piece also asks the performers to utilize unusual techniques in order to mimic the sounds of burning wood and underbrush.
